► Some new Samples

Guten Morgen πŸ™‹‍♂️

I uploaded some of my own created samples for you tonight. Some new leads and a little drum-kit/set I created for my last track, Fernweh 2.

You can get this small sample selection on my samples page. I designed the samples using various programs and VST plugins. Have fun with it.

πŸ“Œ Small note:
All my samples are in .flac format! How to convert them to .wav format is described on my samples page. If you need help, let me know and contact me. I will be very happy to help you convert the files to the format you want.

melcom

► Fernweh 2 - A new mod file

 Hello πŸ™‹‍♀️

After months finally a new track from me and then the track is also quite long.

Fernweh 2
Fernweh 2 is a new mod file by me.
It took a long time, but now the track is finally ready.

You can download this track in .it and .mp3 format:
πŸ’Ύ https://www.melcom-music.de/p/music-2022.html#fernweh2

It took a long time, but now there is a new track from me at the end of the year. Actually, I was planning to revise my track Fernweh, from 2018. But in the midst of my work, I changed my mind and wanted a 2nd part. I created many of the samples myself. Among them is a small drum set that I created especially for Fernweh 2

I hope I have not disappointed you. You can find more information under the download link I already posted above.

πŸ“§ Send me feedback if you feel like it.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! πŸŽ…πŸŽ„πŸ€ΆπŸŽ†πŸΎπŸ₯‚

► A new track will (probably) be released later this year

 Hallo πŸ™‹‍♀️

The work on a new track is nearly finished. But there is still a lot to do. The track is 5mn57s long in its current state. Now it's time for polishing. This is going to take a lot of time because, as some of you know, I'm not in the best of shape. I don't want to go into what's wrong with me again ...

I can't promise you anything, but I will try to release the track this year. To be exact, just before Christmas. 1 or 2 weeks or so. But my health has priority! I forget that myself very often ... So don't be mad at me if the track doesn't show up in the end.

Also, I'm still working on my web page here. So please don't be surprised if things disappear or change completely here.

Two more little things;
My YouTube channel is now available at https://youtube.com/@melcom. You see right. I finally got my alias name (@melcom). 😊

Also, I signed up for mastodon a few days ago. You can reach my account at https://mastodon.social/@melcom. Follow me, write me, whatever ...

Please excuse my poor English!

► Do you still remember?

 Guten Abend πŸ™‹‍♂️

Last year, on December 7, 2021, I showed you a little preview of one of my tracks. Do you still remember? The name of the track was: Pyramid Song. The track is finished since March 2022 and is scheduled for a demo scene project. If you missed the track here on my site, that's because I ONLY shared it on Instagram. Yes, I am evil 😊

But don't worry. You can still listen to a little preview of this track on Instagram. Just follow the link:
https://www.instagram.com/p/CXLzd08jHid/

Please do not forget to turn on the sound in the small video. Otherwise, you will not hear anything. πŸ™ˆ Why am I reminding you of this preview at this time? Why not?

I would be very happy to receive feedback on this little preview. Write to me personally or post in the comments. Thank you very much!

I'm going to try to sleep now. Good nightπŸŒ›

► Small update on the web page

 Hey, πŸ™‹‍♀️

"Music" at the top of the navigator bar I have slightly revised. There you will find my modules, MP3 files, my samples and more ... At this point, I can't say if it will stay that way. I have made many other small changes that you do not see. Eventually I will change all the colors again. Maybe back to the old gray (?)

Okay, I'll come to the end. I will continue to optimize this page, add new features or remove them if I don't like them.

//Update (2022-09-08 10:31)
In the last few years, I have been asked several times to change the comment function here on the site. Not everyone has an account with disqus.com. So I have rebuilt the comments. It is no longer necessary to have an account with disqus.com. You can now post under your Google account, or simply enter your name and website. But you can also just post anonymously. When you post, I advise against insults or advertising your Viagra pills ...

I'm going to look at that for a couple of months. Actually, there is no need for comments here on the website. I just have too few visitors using this feature. But I'm happy to be surprised.

► My samples only in .flac format now

 Hey πŸ™‹‍♂️

My self created samples, are now only available in .flac format. There are several reasons why I no longer offer these as .wav. For one, they are much smaller than a .wav file. Secondly, it has to do with the fact that I can use them in OpenMPT without any problems. There are other reasons, but they are not relevant here.

If you prefer to have my samples in .wav format, you can quickly convert the .flac files. How this works, I have described. Just follow the link here:
https://www.melcom-music.de/p/my-samples.html#samples

Meanwhile, there are more than 200 samples that I have created myself. Many hours of work and many of the samples I have already used myself.

You can find more information in the link above.

► melcom's chiptune archive now on scene.org

 Hallo πŸ™‹‍♂️

Almost 20 years ago, some demosceners and I got together, and we had the idea to build a chiptune archive. We got a lot of support from the demoscene and our IRC channel at the time: #coders.ger. We were also supported at the time by the website back2roots.org (Wayback Machine @ archive.org). We got more and more support and more and more tracks sent to us. But when I left the demoscene in 2004, and we were all more and more busy with our real lives, the archive was discontinued shortly after.

Only one snapshot of this archive exists. And this one is from 2005-02-05. This version of the archive was backed up by someone and got to archive.org in 2012. And now this archive has found a new home again, on scene.org.

melcom's ChipTune Archive (2005-02-05) has the following content:

  • More than 2k classic adlib modules
  • More than 4.2k classic chiptune modules
  • More than 1.7k classic ym modules

πŸ’Ύ Download:
melcom's_chiptune_archive_(2005-02-05).zip

I recommend the following player to listen to the tracks: XMPlay. You also need different plugins to really listen to all modules from the Chiptune Archive (which you can find on the XMPlayer page). If you have trouble finding a plugin, write me personally, and I'll offer you my plugin collection for download, or I'll help you find the right plugins.

I thank menace for offering my Chiptune Archive now on Scene.org. Thanks man!

melcom

► I am in Discord

 Guten Morgen πŸ™‹‍♀️

I am now also available in Discord. I have updated my contact page and added the Discord channels where I can be found. I am in a few other Discord channels besides the ones I listed there. But these are not demo scene relevant. Just dare, come by, write me a private message or add me as your friend.

Well then ... You are cordially invited.

Best regards,
melcom

► Stroke

Stroke
Stroke is a new mod file by me.
It took a long time, but now the track is finally ready.

You can download this track in .it and .mp3 format:
πŸ’Ύ https://www.melcom-music.de/p/music-2022.html#stroke

The announcement of this track was a while ago. I also had to postpone the release because I wasn't 100% satisfied with the track until just before it was finished. In my last few blog posts on my website, I've stressed several times how important it is to me to stand behind every title 100%. I've released a lot of tracks in the past that I wish I had spent more time on to make them better. I don't want to say that Stroke is my best track. That's ultimately a question of taste. But I feel wonderful about the release because I know I put all my skills and knowledge into this track.

I was also accompanied by SagaMusix, who always provided me with tips and even better samples. But enough now. Enjoy this - in my eyes - wonderful track and also watch the video

//EDiT:
I just got an email. Someone said the track sounds too wide on their system. Please make sure that you deactivate your surround sound under your system. It is very important that you listen to the tracks of a music artist without filters or even Dolby Access. Thanks for your understanding.

PS: I use headphones and turn off all sound filters, room sounds, Dolby Access, etc. I always turn them off. Always!

πŸ“§ Send me feedback if you feel like it.

melcom

► Happy Easter

  Guten Morgen, πŸ™‹‍♂️

I know there are one or two people waiting for my new track. I had recently announced this. But I've resolved, as I've mentioned here before, not to release a track anymore that I'm not 100% behind. So what does that mean exactly(?) ... I've been way too quick to release my music in the past. I didn't deliver a hundred percent in a lot of my tracks. With that, I don't want to say that my music was bad in the past. Absolutely not! But the tracks could have been even better if I had invested a) more time and b) more work. So a quick release won't happen anymore. And if I end up releasing only one or two tracks in a year, so be it!

My new track "Stroke" ... is currently 5:48 min long. I've been polishing this track for a few days. Actually, I wanted to release my track at Easter, but I just can't do it anymore. I know the announcement was made a while ago. But even after I finished it, I still found important things I wanted to change. For example, I have little experience in "vibrato" (Hxx). I found that I did not always set this vibrato cleanly and efficiently. In addition, I will rework some parts regarding the loudness. What I'm really happy with is the panning. The panning in my track is incredibly well done. 😊

I have worked on my track (at this point) 86 times and over 47 hours! That's an incredible amount. Normally, most musicians in the demoscene work between 10 and 20 hours on their track. Rarely, however, sometimes 30. You can look up my data later in OpenMPT in the history (under View > Edit History) and see for yourself. Why am I working on my track for so long? Well, see the beginning of this post.

But for now, I'm taking a break. Over Easter, the Revision Party will take place and I will watch the online event on Twitch or CCC. I can't say exactly when I'll be there. But definitely on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 1pm (13 Uhr) for the Tracked Music Compo. If you see me on Twitch or Discord during the event (April 15-18), you can also write me privately and leave me a greeting. πŸ™ˆ

Okay, enough writing. I wish you all a happy Easter! πŸ°πŸ₯šπŸŒ»
And have fun at the Revision (Online) Party this year.

PS: Sorry, for my bad English.

Yours,
melcom

► The new track delayed

 Guten Tag πŸ™‹‍♀️

My new track, which I announced here, will unfortunately be delayed. I have not been well the last few days. Now that I'm recovering, I listened to the track again, and I decided to change or add a few more things. I won't release any more tracks that I'm not 100% satisfied with. That is very important to me. OpenMPT has given me the opportunity to get so much more out of my tracks, and I want to take advantage of that. The samples / instruments I use are of the highest quality! Among them are samples from the Roland D-50 synthesizer, the third best-selling synthesizer in the world. So now I have the possibility, thanks to OpenMPT, to make much more out of my track.

Thank you for your understanding. πŸ’™

melcom

► My self created samples / instruments, are now also available as .flac files

 Guten Tag πŸ™‹‍♂️

For some time now, I've been publishing my own sample creations and making them available for you here on my site. In the meantime, I already got some messages from you if I could not convert the .wav files into .flac files. Today, I finally found the time to provide you with my sample creations as .flac files.

PS: If there are any questions about the files, you can reach me here and write me anytime.

πŸ’Ύ You can download the files here:
https://www.melcom-music.de/p/muzax.html#samples

πŸ“Œ One more small thing ... my track, which I announced here, comes a little later than I had planned. I haven't been well lately and haven't found the time to take care of a release. As you know, my tracks appear not only here, but also in other places on the net. If I feel better after the weekend (I suffer from severe depression that I can't just turn off πŸ˜’), I'll see I can release the track next week.

πŸ“Œ Another small note: Night Air and Haunted are now available on ModArchive.org.

Greetings,
melcom

► A new track coming soon

Hey πŸ™‹‍♀️

Just recently, I presented a little preview of an upcoming track of mine here. The track entered the final stage tonight, and I think it's ready for the public. I will still take a few days to listen to the track after a few breaks, several times to make sure that I can fully stand behind it. Nevertheless, there is this small announcement from me here. Because I noticed that one or two people are already looking forward to something new from me. πŸ™ˆ

There have been several small previews from me here in the last few weeks. Alpha versions of tracks I've been working on. I've mashed up a lot (really a lot) of mod files. But there were two exceptions: The upcoming track and a track that I'm already going to use for an upcoming demoscene project. This track for the upcoming project is great and will surprise many people (I hope).

Okay, I wrote again more than I wanted, and my English is very bad. I will not do this to you now πŸ™ƒ
Be on the lookout in the next few days for the new track called: Stroke

I have also updated my page on ModArchive.org. For the first time, there is a photo of me and some text about my person. 😊 Tracks like Haunted and also Night Air, were also made available to the community there. But when these two tracks are available there, I can not say at the moment. It usually takes 1, 2 or even 3 days. My upcoming new track AND all others will also find a home on ModArchive.org in the future. PS; Uhh ... in the photo, I am also beautifully shaved. Just for you, darling. πŸ’™

And last but not least, I would like to say that in the future I would like to spend more time on the ModArchive. I haven't done anything there for too long and will devote more time to the community there. When exactly it will start, I can't say at the moment.

Love greetings,
melcom

► Small information

 Hey πŸ™‹‍♂️

I have cleaned up a bit here. I have now removed old previews from my upcoming tracks. In the meantime, many tracks sound completely different or even the work on them was stopped. I still can't give you an exact date when I will release another new track.

I've really released a lot of music in the last few years. Some tracks for the Wunderwelt album even slightly reworked or even many of my old classics adapted to the present time and released as an album. When I look at the downloads, I just get sad. πŸ˜’ Since my work with OpenMPT, I learn so many new things. A lot of things I try to implement. Some of it I manage quite well, I think. Then I'm happy about a new track myself, but only a little later reality catches up with me when I then look at the download numbers - despite all the advertising I do - on various sites and social media pages. It's killing me ...

But enough written for the moment. I'll keep working on myself despite the lousy download numbers, and if there's a new track, you'll find it here.

PS: Sorry for my bad english.

Regards,
melcom
