A dark audiovisual journey through fear, conformity, and quiet descent. Composed with OpenMPT using my own samples and instruments - some from “Fernweh” and “Fernweh 2.”

We used to fear the monsters under our bed. Later, we feared being left out. So we learned to belong. To stay silent. To laugh when others cried. We became cunning. Strategic. Cold. We drew borders. We built systems. We issued commands. And we ruined the ground we walk on. This track traces that quiet descent.

And by the end, it’s clear: the monster was never under the bed.

This track has been in the making for a very long time. One day, while I was working on it, my girlfriend heard what I was creating. Since she plays both saxophone and violin, she offered to support me with her sax. That moment marked the beginning of our very first collaboration. Thank you, Flo - truly, from the bottom of my heart. 😊

And yeah, I know the saxophone doesn’t get as much presence in this track as it probably should. The recordings are from quite a while ago, and since my girlfriend’s been working abroad, I had to make do with the takes I already had at home. So I hope you can understand.

The track has a dark and heavy tone. Towards the middle, it feels to me like it takes on the vibe of a track from the Wild West. You won't find any banjos or typical western sounds, but for me, it just has that feeling. It perfectly captures the mood of a lone wanderer in a fallen, empty world.

This track is essentially a 'sample test.' I've gotten into the habit of testing my custom-created samples and instruments by writing 'small' songs that aren't intended for the public. These songs are never perfect and often contain many flaws; they're just audio sketches.

After all these years, I think it's time to give you one of these tracks. By the way, the samples and instruments are sourced exclusively from my track "Stroke." I've modified all the samples and instruments with OpenMPT and a lot of VST plugins.
