A Complete Rewrite with Batch Processing and a New UI

I'm thrilled to announce the official release of the FFmpeg Audio Normalizer v3.0.0 (Halloween Edition)! πŸŽƒ This version is not just an update; it's a complete rewrite from the ground up, designed to be more powerful, stable, and user-friendly.

The biggest highlights of this major overhaul include:

  • Batch Processing: The most requested feature is here! Add multiple files or entire folders and normalize them all in one go.
  • Integrated Audio Player: A new mini-player lets you preview tracks with full playlist controls before you process them.
  • Modern, Redesigned UI: The interface has been completely redesigned for a more intuitive and efficient workflow.
  • Increased Stability: Thanks to a new threading model, the application is now more robust and responsive than ever.

A screenshot of the website's new mobile view

This is a first draft, and your feedback is welcome.

I've just rolled out an update to make the website much easier to read and navigate on mobile devices. The layout should now adapt cleanly to smaller screens, so you no longer have to zoom and pan around.

Since I personally don't browse the web on my phone very often, I consider this new mobile view a 'first draft.' I've tested it, but real-world use is the best test.

If you're a mobile user and have any suggestions, or if you notice anything that looks odd or could be improved, I would be very grateful to hear from you. Please feel free to send me a message via the contact page. Thanks for your help!

A Major Overhaul is Coming!

I'm excited to give you a first look at the next major version of the FFmpeg Audio Normalizer. Version 3 is a complete rework from the ground up, focusing on a much more powerful and flexible workflow.

Key improvements over v2.2.2 will include:

  • Batch Processing: Normalize entire folders or multiple files at once.
  • Modern, Redesigned UI: A new, intuitive layout to manage your file lists and settings.
  • Output Format Details: Get instant information about the technical specs of each output format before you normalize.

If all goes well, I'm planning to release the Halloween Edition (HE) right on time for Halloween. Stay tuned!

Featuring Audio Previews and a Real-Time Process Log

I'm happy to announce a significant update to my FFmpeg Audio Normalizer. Version 2.2.2 introduces two powerful features designed to improve your workflow and provide much better feedback during the normalization process.

  • New Audio Preview: You can now use the new "Play" and "Stop" buttons to instantly listen to your selected audio file before processing. This helps ensure you've loaded the correct track without leaving the application.
  • Live Process Information: The process window has been completely overhauled. It now shows a real-time log of FFmpeg's output, so you can see exactly what's happening at every step. A scrollbar has also been added for convenience.

πŸš€ New Home on GitHub Pages!

New Website on GitHub Pages

A Faster, Modern Experience

I'm excited to announce that the website has officially moved from Blogger to a new, modern platform hosted on GitHub Pages.

This move was a big project, but it brings some fantastic benefits. The new site is built with pure HTML and CSS, making it significantly faster, cleaner, and more reliable. It also gives me complete control to make updates and add new features more easily in the future.

All the music and content you're used to are still here, just in a much speedier package. Thanks for your support during this transition. I hope you enjoy the new experience!

Please note: I'll be actively working on the site today and over the next few days to iron out any kinks. If you happen to notice any temporary issues, please just wait a few minutes and refresh. Thank you for your patience!

Cheers,
melcom

Silk & Sax

I'm really happy to share my new track, "Silk & Sax." This one is very special to me because it marks my first-ever musical collaboration with my girlfriend, Florence Heart, who contributed her amazing saxophone skills.

β–Ί melcom's chiptune archive now on scene.org

Almost 20 years ago, some demosceners and I got together with the idea to build a chiptune archive. We received incredible support from the community, especially from our IRC channel #coders.ger and the website back2roots.org. As more tracks were sent in, the archive grew, but it was discontinued shortly after I left the demoscene in 2004.

Only one snapshot of this archive from February 5, 2005, survived. It was backed up and eventually made its way to archive.org. Today, I'm thrilled to announce it has found a new, permanent home on scene.org!

melcom's ChipTune Archive (2005-02-05) contains:

  • Over 2,000 classic adlib modules
  • Over 4,200 classic chiptune modules
  • Over 1,700 classic ym modules

πŸ’Ύ Download: melcom's_chiptune_archive_(2005-02-05).zip

I recommend XMPlay for listening, but you will need various plugins to play all the modules. If you have trouble finding them, just write to me, and I'll help you out.

A huge thank you to menace for making this possible by hosting the archive on Scene.org. Thanks, man!

Regards,
melcom

β–Ί Exciting Things in the Works!

Hey everyone πŸ‘‹

It’s been a bit quiet lately, so here’s a quick update! I’m currently working on several exciting music projects 🎢

First, I'm part of a collaborative release set to drop later this year or early next. Alongside that, I’m also crafting a brand-new solo album called "Klangwelten" - something very close to my heart.

Most of my time is spent learning and working with FL Studio, while also creating custom instruments and samples in OpenMPT using VST plugins. It’s a slow but creative process that keeps me inspired and evolving.

Rest assured: the new material is shaping up to be some of my best yet! I shared early previews with a good friend from the demoscene, and the feedback was amazing. πŸ™

Thanks for sticking with me and for all your support! ❀️

If you’d like more frequent updates, feel free to follow me on Bluesky.
Stay creative,
